According to researches on cancer, which is one of the most common causes of death, the number of patients with cancer is increasing all over the world and this increase is also seen in our country. While the mortality rate from cancer in Turkey was 12 percent in 2002, it reached 20 percent in 2012. Because of the long and difficult treatment process, this situation affects the patients and the country with high cost of treatment. To prevent the growth and proliferation of cancer cells or to ensure their destruction, treatment with anti-cancer drugs is called chemotherapy. The method of administering chemotherapy drugs in the body can be in different ways such as the oral route, the vascular route, and the injection route. These drugs are dispersed through the blood and act on tumor cells, halting their growth and proliferation. However, these drugs have negative effects on intact cells and the body and make the treatment process difficult for the patients. In this context, since our patients residing in our province, going to other provinces, waiting for the queue and fighting after the effects in the places where they do not have residency add additional negativity to their lives, in order to make the treatment process more comfortable, 25 to 50 sessions of chemotherapy can be applied daily to 25 patients at the same time. made.
In our unit, which works with a closed system, the closed system not only reduces drug consumption but also positively affects personnel health.
We have 4 nurses, 1 staff and 1 cleaning staff in our unit.
In our chemotherapy unit, 480 - 500 sessions of chemotherapy are applied per month.
